Making a Relay Call

Friday June 20, 2003
Today I had to make an internet relay call to get something fixed at my house. The person I talked to complained that the relay call was "taking too long." I get that complaint often when using relay services with hearing people who are unfamiliar with relays. The person I was talking to happened to be talking to someone else and did not realize that the relay operator was obligated to relay to me EVERYTHING that she said, including her complaint about the call taking too long!
