Hearing Aids on a Budget
Tuesday July 20, 2004
I continue to get e-mails from people desperate to get hearing aids that they can not afford. An About visitor e-mailed me about his solution - buying hearing aids cheap on Ebay! Read about it on the forum and join in the discussion - is this a good solution for deaf/hard of hearing people who need hearing aids but lack insurance coverage and do not have the financial resources to buy them?

Ifirst bought a listening device off ebay i.e the cheap $39 ones, they are crap, then I found a website that offered me a fully digital discreet hearing aid. It has been fantastic, I paid $399 and its been the best buy yet. It has saved me thousands of dollars as I just wanted something every now and then for listening to TV, conversation, unlike the cheap amplifier devices which just made every sound loud, this product the Maxisound actually gave me great hearing quality in different enviroments..I would definately recommend go visit www.easyhear.ca
i hope u dont work for them
No I dont, I live in the UK and work for an engineering company…after many years being exposed to the heavy sound of machinery I started to get a hearing loss in my 50’s
I’ve been in the hearing technology business for almost four decades so I’m wiritng from experience.
Buying used hearing aids that aren’t properly fitted and tuned by a hearing aid dispenser can do more damage to an already damaged hearing mechanism.
Yes, today’s hearing aids are expensive but these aren’t the same devices gramps used.
They have more natural hearing and wearing comfort, they have automated conveniences and some are even wireless. However, buying a hearing aid on-line is NOT a good idea and will almost certainly make a bad hearing situation worse.
