No Hearing Aids, No CIs Allowed

Sunday December 12, 2004
HHIssues has posted a long message on the forum from a profoundly deaf athlete who is upset about not being permitted to use hearing aids or cochlear implants in deaf sports competition. Among the points she makes, is that someone with a 55 db hearing loss (the minimum required) could hear better without hearing aids than someone who is profoundly deaf with a hearing aid. Is this rule therefore a fair one?
