"Most children have dreams of what they want to be when they grow up; yet I did not develop many dreams because of societal barriers. These barriers were due to my deafness. Many hearing individuals thought that I could not function in the Hearing world. I felt alone and sorry for myself, and I lacked self-confidence..."
