What Helped in School?

Sunday May 15, 2005
Bama3 writes: I am the mother of a hearing impaired 17 year old. He is a Junior in high school and completely mainstreamed. He has done very well but I would love to hear from a hearing impaired person that could tell me what helped them the most. He went through auditory/verbal therapy and has been a great success, he is also very independent and does not want to admit that he needs help. right now I think his main dissability is he is "17 years old" I want to prepare him for his senior year and then for collage, He does not want to wear a FM system which he did wear until he entered High School. I know he would do better with a FM, I am just trying to let him be more independent. Any pointers on what helped you personally in school would be much appreciated.
