Ringing in Ears

Tuesday August 23, 2005
I have some significant deafness in one ear, and some serious "ringing" in the other that is driving me batty! It started after I got a head cold, and has been going on for several months. It really interferes with my hearing in the one "good" ear, and I'm wondering what people know about this symptom. The doctor seems to think it's just "something to live with," but I haven't given up hope. Does anyone know a cure, or a way of improving this condition. My ears are clean, and I'm not taking antihistamines, although I do have to take ibuprofen for arthritis, and I know that can sometimes cause this condition (although I never had that side-effect before the cold).

I’ve been having the same problem with one of my ears, constant ringing and I just found out through a friend that this could be acoustic neuroma, it’s a benign tumor and affects your hearing due to the compression of the auditory component of the 8th cranial nerve, as it grows it can affect other nerves and cause compression on the brain. It is removed by microsurgery or thru the ear canal. I noticed a small bump in the area underneath my ear. You should go to an Ear, Nose, Throat doctor or a Neurosurgeon.
