Hearing Girl Thinks Deaf Guy's a Hottie

Sunday November 27, 2005
Ah, teenage romance...WhatElse29 writes on the forum:

Well, there is this super hot guy in my school, and the other day i was at this meeting thing for this school trip we can go on, and i saw an interpreter signing to him. I had no idea he was Deaf, or HOH but i dont care. I cant stop thinking about him. He is only one grade higher than me. My mom is HOH and has a hearing aid. She taught me some sign language when she took these courses to learn it. i am not excatly fluent in it, but i know the alphabet. I'm good at including my mom into conversations, i tell her what we have been talking about if she doesnt hear us properly. That can give me an advantage right? Today i made eye contact with him to try to get him to notice me, but i dont know. I'm not supid, i know Deaf people are regular people, but will he notice me? And i wonder if he'd be interested with a Hearing person.

Do you think i have a chance with him?

umm well I really think you should tell this guy. I mean I am deaf and i have been recenty asked out by a hearing guy, I first said no because I was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to deal, but i have an advantage i can read lips and speak as well as sign ( not fluently though) I think maybe you should talk to him first, be friends, then if things progress let it happen. But remember you don’t want him to feel like you are Pitying him by going out with him. best of luck
