Like Cars, Implants Can Be Recalled

Ivan and Mandy's Hear Again blog reports that Advanced Bionics has issued a recall letter for their implants. It is unclear to me from reading the article, if the parts that failed were internal parts or external parts. It does sound like they are internal parts, however. I recently read in an article about the growth of Mexico's medical manufacturing industry, that parts manufactured to be placed inside the body must be "perfect." Cochlear implants must meet the same standard.

Just before I went to bed, I checked the Advanced Bionics website and discovered they had posted the recall letter today, probably after Ivan and Mandy's report.
