Blog About Comments on Old Posts?

Friday August 17, 2007
Dear readers,
This blog has been around a long time. From time to time, I get comments on old posts - say, posts older than six months old. When that happens, would you like for me to blog about those older posts so you can be aware and have a chance to read other people's comments?

Sure — especially if the comments are themselves interesting or thought provoking (i.e., not if the new comment is just saying “I agree, good post” but only if it has something new and substantial to say).

Or, you may also wish to explore options for making it easier for readers to see the most recent few comments on the site for themselves (see http://reunifygally.wordpress.com, scroll down a bit and look at the right hand column, as one example; also at ballastexistenz.autistics.org, also further down the page in the right hand column).

I absolutely agree, “older” posts with information from other times can certainly be helpful, depending on the relative use it has. For instance: a post of old information that has been updated is good for historical research, to see where you’ve been. But not necessarily alone. If little has changed or something is still very applicable from old information, than it’s only old in time, not use

I agree that “older” posts may be re-visited from time to time and warrent mention again. However, like the other poster said, not if the only comment is something like “good post” or “I agree”.

Yes. As previously mentioned, there are issues of particular significance where new comments and your responses would be of great interest. For example, public policy issues such as early language stimulation for all who are hearing impaired.
