Bob Weitbrecht came to a convention that I attended, and we met briefly. I was impressed with his personality: he was an oral Deaf, but very friendly and did not object as I signed to him, as he was not only expert at lipreading, he used the signs to assist in reading me and responded with clear, easy to lipread communication. He spoke of those who helped him launch the Weitbrecht modem and the company and was modest enough to give them a great deal of credit for the revolution in telephone usage by the deaf.
