Deaf Pro Soccer Player in Maryland

Saturday April 19, 2008
I don't usually read sports articles in the Washington Post, but this one caught my attention: "Deaf Soccer Player Tackles Pro Challenge." It is about Matt Eby, a Gallaudet University alumnus (and now works for Gallaudet) who plays for Real Maryland, a pro soccer club in Maryland. According to the Post, Eby may be the only pro soccer player in the United States at this time.

Matt is a great guy. What we need is more deaf soccer players like him to tryout for the US Deaf Soccer Teams, both Men and Women. The Women’s team will be competing in the Deaflympics this September in Taipei as the defending Gold medal champions. Check them out at usdeafsoccer.com
