These are the blogs of interest for June 1 to June 8.
- Law Enforcement and the Deaf - Eddie reveals he is the deaf son of a cop, and gives good advice to deaf people on how to handle encounters with the police. Although some of this advice is not new, it bears repeating.
- Cochlear Transplant - A sick Abbie tells about how her doctor refers to the cochlear implant as a transplant. Humorously and creatively written. (Guide comment: Bad enough that we have people often referring to the CI as a choclear transplant. Now we have to deal with people thinking that we got transplants instead of implants?)
- ASL Matchbooks - It is not exactly art, but it is interesting. The sign language alphabet on matchbooks.
- Issue of the Week: Deafread drops CochlearImplantOnline.com blog on charges of commercialism. This issue became so hot in the deaf blogosphere that it even drew Mike McConnell out of retirement, as he wrote one of the longest posts I have ever seen on a deaf blog.
- Coda Culture - CodaDiva talks about how Codas support each other.
- Jockey with Deaf Son - Virginia shares a news story about a jockey whose son is deaf.
- Deaf Nepal Man in Parliament - Discovering Deaf Worlds alerts us to a deaf Nepal man who just became a member of that country's Parliament.
- Dr. Davila's European Vacation - Actually, he worked rather hard as he reports in this 23 minute long vlog, traveling to three countries, promoting Gallaudet, making presentations, meeting people at deaf clubs, visiting schools, and being interviewed for vlogs and television programs.
- The Fake Interpreter - With a title like that, I just had to watch it. A deaf man pretends to be an interpreter, with humorous consequences.
- YouTube Gets Religion - Bill Creswell informs us that YouTube has finally added the ability to add annotations aka captions.
- Meneire's and Music - a UK DeafBlog reprints an article about hearing loss, Meneire's, and music.
- Baja Compassion Ministries - While not particularly spectacular, I am including this one because I stumbled across it, and it does tell what life is like for deaf people in Mexico. This blog is about a deaf ministry in Mexico, and it tells about interpreters and deaf people getting jobs.
- Interpreter Helps - Wendi, who is recently deafened, tells how she was helped by an interpreter that was there for other deaf people, not her.

Thank you Jamie for including me. I can’t believe the problems with volunteering. Oh well, I removed my blog from DeafRead because I could not get a straight answer from the editors.
Oh and my blog has been invaded by a person who wants to take out all her frustrations of Deafness out on me. I started my blog to share experiences and learn more about Deaf Culture. I never thought my cochlear implants would be seen first and my deafness second. I can’t learn more if I am daily pushed back.

Thanks for listing my blog on there – much appreciated.
I just want to say that in the time I’ve been here on Deafread, even with a cochlear implant, and my posts on it. I’ve never had a bad comment, or felt attacked by my decision to get reimplanted.
I’m at a loss to know why others do.
