Deaf Couple on CNN.com's America's Money Series

The other day I was leisurely reading CNN.com's latest America's Money series, on gas prices. One of them featured a deaf couple, the Metsches from Vancouver, Washington. They talk about the hardship for them as a low income couple.
How are gas prices affecting you as a deaf couple? It is affecting everyone including us. We think twice before eating out or going anyplace, factoring in the cost of the gas. The only reason we might go to tonight's Deaf Professional Happy Hour in Washington, DC is because it is accessible to the Metrorail station. We will only have to use just enough gas to drive to the local Metrorail station and park, taking Metro into DC.

I bike to work now because of the gas prices and because if I bike to work, I actually get there faster than if I drove.

I think the Vancouver, WA reference was to a tv show Jamie had watched.
It appears that Jamie’s family is located close to Washington DC.
