NTID Laptop Theft Probably Inside Job

Thursday September 4, 2008
Readers, Something happened two days ago that I need to share with a wider audience because of its importance and significance. We received a letter from Capital One regarding the opening of an account online. This letter had our address, another person's name, and another person's social security number. Not our social security numbers but very possibly another NTID alumnus social security number.

The letter said the account had been opened online on August 26. The theft happened on August 25. Too close for comfort. Bob took the letter and went to Capital One headquarters and what he found out gives us serious reason to believe that whomever stole that laptop knew what was on it. Why steal that particular laptop out of all the computers on campus?

We believe that the NTID laptop thieves are taking alumni, applicant, and student social security numbers, mixing them up with the names of real people, and real alumni addresses and using that info to open online accounts.

Read what Bob found out when he went to Capital One headquarters.

The laptop computer thefts became very common nowaday from the office desk.

Real important about being proactive to protect our own identity numbers, etc.

My credit rating had been damaged since two deaf indvividuals used my SSN while I was in the hosptial from the auto accident.

(4) Prefer not to be named says:

We need to consider a serious class action lawsuit against NTID/RIT for protecting our identifications. We need to file immediate class action lawsuits. We have been bullied and pushed by RIT and NTID in favor of their technical savvy students and alumnis. We need to take stands and that we will not take any of their crap. Let start class-action lawsuits and demand compensations. In fact, they should be paying off our student debt AT THE VERY LEAST.

If they refused, we need to file for punitive damages.
