Another Economic Casualty: Deaf Couple Formerly on Extreme Home Makover Losing Home

Monday November 24, 2008
The Fookem & Bug blog (Bug, this time) has an item about how a deaf couple that had been on Extreme Home Makeover is about to lose their home due to debt. They have links to videos - none captioned, unfortunately. A commenter there notes that there have been other Extreme Home Makeover families that have had to sell or lose their homes.

Current episodes of Extreme Home Makeover are captioned on ABC.com.

Yes we have one Extreme Home Makeover who lost a home in Atlanta. He and his wife borrowed money to start a business. It was a big mistake!

I am sorry I can’t help to donate deaf family who lost Extreme Home Makeover. They spent lots of money on vacations, new cars, etc. They made a big mistake. I am sorry I can’t help them. They will have to sell her home and move small house to pay off the medical. Or Call MARLEE MATLIN (Deaf Actor) to help them.

My husband and I paid off our 30 years mortgage loan. We are responsible to pay house property taxes every years.

DeafLinda,

How do you know if They did spent on vacations? I read the comment from other and say that Lance’s medical expense is rocket. I dont’ see the comment did not say they were on vacations. Seem it is not make sense to me.
Vardon’s fiancial problem was related to Lance’s medical expense cost so double. you need to carefully and misunderstood.

Lance’s father lost his job and pretty obviously it is unexpecting with his employement were lost of their stocking, etc.

Seem it is rude comment in their face. I dont think it was their fault. Medicial expense are number problem that I face with my daughter’s medicial issues, too. Vardon’s family are not alone!!!!

Medical bills or not if they can’t afford the house maybe the need to sell it. I am a single mother with a daughter with medical bills also, no one came and put a ton of money into our home and no one handed out money so I could make my mtg payment. We had to downsize and now live in an apartment that is 1/3 the size that our house was. How much are people willing to hand out to these folks. I feel for them really but sounds like it’s time to stand on their own feet.
