Deafned Painter at Risk of Being Let Go

Sunday December 21, 2008
Greg on the forum says his boss is threatening to fire him because of his hearing loss:
I have been SSD for 4 years with almost normal hearing in my good ear. I have recently developed moderate to sever HL in the good ear due to a Fistula. I am a painter and my boss has told me he may have to let me go because of the hearing issue and safety. Does anyone have any advice on getting Social Security Benefits for being disabled due to deafness.
I have never heard of a painter being let go for this reason. Since when does hearing loss play a role in safety as a painter? I have never been a painter, maybe it is a legitimate reason, but my gut feeling says it is NOT a legitimate reason. Post your replies to Greg on the forum.
