Video Relay Services Consumer Association
Tuesday January 13, 2009
Have you ever heard of the Video Relay Services Consumer Association (VRSCA)? I hadn't until I came across their information table at a recent asl expo. I thought this kind of association was a good idea because of all the issues involving video relay services. So I contacted them for an interview.

It was started by Sorenson and controlled by Sorenson for many years. Last time I checked was 3 years ago and the people running it worked for Sorenson. Be careful with who you are dealing with.
Phil is right. Sorenson is behind that website and they use it to manipulate people to contact FCC to delay decisions or to block decisions.
Yes, it seems to be the case. One of the VRSCA gave presentation. Sicne then, it has been learned information were incorrect, disregardign FAA guideline. One information was, “Every houselhold must have only ONE VP#”. In plain English, you can have only one VP in your household. TSK! TSK! WRONG, misleading and controlling information.
There are many misleading information being circulated among the deaf/hard of hearing and hearing consumers of VRS. This is why it is critical for VRS consumers to know their rights and to understand the implications of not registering for a 10 digit number. VRSCA provides neutral information and Sorenson does not control what information we put on VRSCA website. Sorenson believes that it is important to educate and empower consumers to know, understand and to make the right choices for themselves and that is what we do.
