Beware the Pool This Summer If You Don't Want to Go Deaf

One of my worst ear infections happened shortly after I had swum in a hotel pool. It could have been worse, if this news item in Medical News Today is any indication. A study paid for by Amplifon, a hearing aid manufacturer, found that people can acquire sudden deafness if they swim in dirty pool water or in water that has been over chlorinated. I already knew about swimmer's ear risks, but not sudden deafness risk from swimming in dirty pool water.
