Deaf people in Arizona who receive Medicaid, may soon not be able to have Medicaid pay for cochlear implants and Baha (bone anchored hearing aid) implants. Hi_Dan has posted a link to the details on the forum, along with the warning that there are just eight days left for Arizona residents to comment before the cutoff goes into effect.
In case anyone is wondering how Arizona can do this, states can set their own Medicaid coverage rules. If Arizona ends Medicaid coverage of cochlear implants and Baha implants, cochlear implants and Bahas will become just more victims of this recession.

Well, they can try get a job. Most companies offer better health care coverage than Medicaid.
Many of the recipients are children. One of the main reasons for implanting children is so they can learn better in school in order to have a better job. So that maybe they can afford insurance.
I live in Arizona and didn’t even know that. I had their coverage. How come they didn’t bother to tell me? Perhaps I could have gotten an upgrade on mine.
To respond to Bouyea- I work at Wendy’s currently (while in college) and I don’t work full time. Therefore I can’t get coverage.
To the person that says to try and get a job!! What insurance company will cover you after you’ve been on Medicare and had all these health problems??? Just because you have a job with a company that has any or decent helth insurance doesn’t mean they will cover you.. They have the right to deny coverage!! Everybody thinks this so easy! Just go get Health Insurance!!! Not to mention the Cost of the Insurance.. And Still some will Not Pay for the implants..
