There were several good stories in the media this week about deafness that I can't let the week end without a mention. There's something for everyone!
- Remember the deaf Mexican slaves from many years ago? One of them was a teenager at the time. The New York Times followed up on his life since then. And here is another one about another new deaf citizen from California.
- Then there was the news that Afghanistan will get its first school for the deaf. (But what will they do for security?)
- Ear tubes have been found to be safe for kids with cochlear implants. That will be a relief for parents of kids who get ear infections.
- Kids older than 3 can not get state aid to attend the Clarke school. Parents and legislators are trying to get that changed.
- Will the former workers for Viable ever get the back wages they say they are owed? Doesn't look like it.
