Fire the Performer. Hire the Interpreter.

Someone blogged about this video of a sign language interpreter at a performance. The blogger said it was "sexy," and possibly better than the performance. After watching the video - laughing at the interpreter's very expressive body language - I have to agree!

My kid would of loved it! Nothing worse than a boring terp trying to do music. Not sure I am ready for that yet (uh, still a helicopter mom) …… but hey, she rocks! Hard job and she ran with it! You would be so sad seeing me terp the shows we go to, cheers to the interpreter willing to bring it on and on beat.

That reminds me of when I was in Hollywood for deaf awareness meetings. One evening, I took my staff interpreter and couple friends with me to eat at Magic Castle in Hollywood.

While waiting for dinner, we watched a show. Wow! The magician was upset when I asked interpreter to interpret what he said…

After the show, he was rude to us and I told him to stuff it. We have right to know what he was saying during his show.

So those actors or presentors need to get their heads on right…..
