ASL Songs, Welcome, Indeed

By , About.com Guide   August 22, 2010

Follow me on:

Today a new blog announced itself: the ASL Songs blog.  While they are just getting started, I hope to see this blog grow exponentially. One of the most frequent questions I get at About.com is "How do I sign this song," so having a central resource for ASL interpretations of songs is going to be very helpful.

I have just one request for the bloggers at ASL Songs: could you also post the lyrics for the songs?  That way people  who are  unfamiliar with the songs could match up the words with the ASL interpretation.

WOW! Seeing my blog, ASL Songs, featured on About.com is really cool. Thank you for your interest in ASL song interpretation.

To answer your question, yes song lyrics will be posted and when possible ASL gloss will be included as well. Also, comments are highly encourage and welcome. So don’t be shy.

Thanks again for featuring ASL Songs blog. I am now even more inspired to blog.

Absolutely fantastic!!! Can’t help but play Russell Harvards’ interpretation of “Down” over and over again. Brilliant!

So happy to see you’re enjoying the blog posts. And yes that “Down” interpretation is top notch. There’s a “Thriller” interpretation I like really well by a different interpreter. Maybe I’ll post that one in the morning. SMILE

This site is wonderful. I wish I had it as a resource when I was teaching ASL. It is so hard sometimes to break hearing students of being so literal and look into the meanings and feelings of songs which ASL does and these songs show so well. I will be checking back for more songs to enjoy and share. Keep up the good work.

It is very useful for those who are not familiar with the songs to have the ability to read lyrics. Thanks if you’re doing this
