(1) TerpCindy says:

Go to the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), www.rid.org/start.html
This website explains the profession of sign language interpreter. There is a trend in the U.S. to invoke standards or credentials for persons calling themselves interpreters. You will have to check with your state chapter of RID to see what requirements pertain in your area. You can go to the Affiliate Chapter page at RID.org and find a link to YOUR state chapter.
Good Luck!

Find out who the state agency is in your area. They’ll have a variety of work for you to do.
Also, find out who’s deaf around where you live. They’ll tell you where they wish somone like you could be found!
Deaf ppl, always a valuable resource when it comes to their language.
