These are the best movies about deafness that I have seen, or that are recommended by About:Deafness/HOH visitors. 1. Children of a Lesser GodThe now-classic film that introduced Marlee Matlin, academy-award winning actress. I saw both the play on Broadway and the film.2. Sound and FuryAn excellent documentary that has been nominated for awards; about two families struggling with the cochlear implant question.3. The Miracle Worker (1962)Original version with Patty Duke, I saw it as one of the captioned films as a child.4. Mr. Holland's OpusAbout a musician whose son is deaf. I thought it was alright, but was not particularly impressed. Maybe you will feel differently.Created: June 21, 2007 |
