Thanks for Deaf or Hard of Hearing Children
I am a mother of a deaf son. I thank God for allowing me the privilege of raising such a wonderful little spirit. My son is very active in sports and I am thankful for the times parents have not thought before they spoke and my child knew nothing of their nasty words towards a coach or an official. I am thankful for the deaf culture that have opened their doors and hearts to our family. I am thankful to God for all the joy I see in my son's eyes when he is signing with me or another deaf person.
***
I am so thankful that God has entrusted me with two beautiful sons. One hearing impaired and one sight impaired. I just pray that I have done His work with them. They are both a true blessing to me. I hope that they both realize this. I feel that I was chosen.
***
I am thankful for my deaf son. God has given me such a precious gift, and I thank him that through my son I see the world in a whole different way.
***
I am thankful for my beautiful, smart, nice, happy, wonderful, hard of hearing 5-year-old daughter!
***
I want to thank God for my hard of hearing daughter, she has brought so much happiness into our lives, thanks to the people that have been involved in her development, from the early diagnosis of her loss, to the therapists who work hard to help her improve every day, and thanks to my wife for her dedication and hard work taking what she learns from the pros and expanding on it.

Thanks for Deaf Parents
I am a child of a single deaf mother. She is my best friend and I love her with all my heart. I wouldn't trade her for a hearing mother for anything in the world.
***
I'm a CODA, very thankful that God gave me special parents that are deaf and especially proud of my deaf culture and heritage. Most thankful for God giving me special talent, skills to help the deaf in my community.

Thanks for Technology That Helps Deaf People
I'm thankful for the development of closed captioning.
***
I am thankful for TTY's, so deaf and hard-of-hearing people can communicate with each other.
***
I'm thankful for the development of text messaging, which has become crucial to communication for the deaf, especially in a crisis.
***
I'm thankful for the development of cochlear implants, which have given those who want to be able to hear, a way to hear.

Love of a Deaf or Hard of Hearing Person
Over the past year, I have become very close to a man that is hard of hearing. That is what I am thankful for.
***
I married a wonderful deaf man and we have a deaf son. Thank you for bringing these two wonderful people into my life.

Thanks for Friends and Family Who Understand Deafness
I am thankful for understanding friends who don't mind repeating themselves.
***
I am thankful for a husband, who knows without me telling him, when I can not hear what is going on.
***
I am thankful for being an imperfect human being. This has allowed me to view things in different avenues of life. I am also thankful for my family -- all hearing, for putting up with me and being philosophical and argumentative in an effort to better understand each other. I am also thankful for my husband of 6 months and more.

Thanks for Deaf Culture Awareness
I'm thankful for the increased awareness and appreciation of deaf culture.

Thanks for Sign Language
I am most thankful for those who want to learn sign language!

Thanks for Future Deaf Family
My soon-to-be CODA daughter-in-law and her deaf parents are a part of my life. I'm grateful that our two wonderful families will be connected.

I am thankful for ASL. I've been studying for a year now; two semesters in school and now on my own. The study of ASL is one of the best ways that I can facilitate the bond between our families.

Thanks for Acceptance by Deaf People
I am thankful that with all of my son's special medical conditions, he at only nine months old knows what the face of love and acceptance really looks like, and hasn't a clue what harsh words sound like. He is a blessing. I am also grateful for the members of the deaf community near us taking my whole family in, "hearing and all" and willingness to share with us their beliefs and their views. My husband and I are truly blessed!

Thanks for Deaf Poetry
I'm thankful for my deafness because I can write poetry about my experiences as a deaf person. Also, I have a lot more friends that know sign than the average person. I'm thankful for those that are deaf and the interpreters that sign for me.

Thanks for Not Having to Hear Gossip
When it comes to gossip and negativity that sometimes goes on in the workplace, I find that being hard of hearing is a blessing, especially when combined with selective hearing for what I can hear. That way, I can keep my spirits up and bring a bit of sunshine into the lives of those who aren't as "fortunate" and have to listen to stuff that is stressful. It really is a blessing.
