What are the top deaf groups on Facebook, a social networking site? The groups listed here are the top groups in terms of total membership. Only groups with memberships of at least 500 or more are listed. Therefore, it will change over time, with groups being dropped and added. If you know of a deaf-related Facebook group whose membership has topped 500 that is not on this list, contact me.

1. Facebook Deaf

As of April 2009, this general deaf group had appoximately 11,400 members.

2. Deaf All Around the World

As of April 2009, this general group had approximately 10,400 members.

3. American Sign Language and Deaf Culture Awareness

As of April 2009, this general group had approximately 10,000 members.

4. Deaf & Hard of Hearing Group

As of April 2009, this general group had approximately 8,573 members.

5. ASL - American Sign Language

As of April 2009, this group focused on sign language and deaf culture had approximately 8,500 members.

6. Deaf Rights - Subtitles

As of April 2009, this group, focused on subtitles (i.e., captions) had approximately 8,000 members.

7. Deaf Power!

As of April 2009, this group had approximately 6,000 members.

8. Baby Sign Language - My Smart Hands

As of April 2009, this group had approximately 2,530 members. (This is a business group run by a baby sign language class provider, that is open to anyone).

9. Global Deaf Women

As of April 2009, this group had approximately 2,380 members.

10. See Hear BBC

This UK-based group is focused on the long-running British deaf television program See Hear. Unfortunately, according to See Hear's website, only UK-based computers can view their programs. As of April 2009, this group had approximately 1,955 members.
