I think that the popularity of sign language would grow slowly, and there probably will be a cure for people who are deaf. Then again people can still use the sign language just to use it for fun even if they aren't deaf and don't need to use it.

I feel that sign language will not continue forever, as emerging Information Technology can be utilized to overcome the hearing disability.
For instance, if deaf people are taught the use of the internet, they will easily communicate using the internet and overcome their disability. It all requires developing appropriate educational programs to help identify needed "Ability In Disability".
I therefore think that the age of Information Technology will bring sign language to an end, since the deaf will easily communicate through the internet.

I think Sign language will continue to gain popularity because now there are many people who are interested to learn the language and in South Africa it is an official language . I think as Sign language users we must teach those who think sign language is universal to understand that every language is unique so as sign language.

I actually think that sign language will continue to gain popularity becaus i have a mother who is deaf and all my frienda ant to learn sign language and maybe they will pass that on to other people and it will hopefully continue like that!

I think it will gain popularity. because for the hearing world, it is something different. not using your ears or mouth. it is nice, beautiful using eyes and hands

Sign Language will continue to grow so long as there are deaf people on earth. Technology will enable deaf people to communicate effectively with hearing people but it will not make the language obsolete because we still need it for day to day interaction with each other and our hearing counterparts who do use sign language. Who ever heard of a language becoming obsolete because of modern day Technology? Latin is seldom used in it's full version but it is frequently used in everyday life thus not obsolete.

Well, I think that it will become popular in the next 5 years or so. But then I also think that in the very near future somebody out there will come up with some way for the deaf to hear through technology.

I think sign language will grow with time.More and more hearing poeople are learning sign language. After all the deaf cannot learn to hear with their ears but the hearing can learn to sign. Lets hope sign language becomes part of the school education in language options.

...sign language will still be used a little bit as the ex-deaf people learn to hear. we think it still should be used and kept as an almost tradition. It should also be taught in schools, even if the children in the class aren't deaf. In our lifetime, we will meet deaf people, and it would be nice to be able to communicate with them in their language. Sign Language is a valuable thing, it is like talking for deaf people so thats why we should learn it in school.
