One of the most important things that need to be communicated in sign language, especially for children, is food. Books are available with food signs, and signs are available on the web and in regular sign language dictionaries. There is even food safety information in sign language.

Beginning Sign Language Series: Foods Compare Prices is a thin, colorful picture book of food signs for children, with 43 signs. A similar one from the same publisher is Beginning Sign Language Series: Fruits & Vegetables Compare Prices, with 39 signs.

The Bravo Family series includes "Beginning ASL Videocourse #2: Breakfast with the Bravo Family," a video that shows breakfast and dining signs. Another one is "Beginning ASL Videocourse #4: Let's Go Food Shopping," which teaches about shopping at a grocery store and is also available on the DCMP website.
