If you knew someone who obviously had a hearing loss but was denying it, how would you help them? What would you do to make them realize they had a hearing loss and needed to get help for it? This is important because an untreated hearing loss can make senior citizens vulnerable to depression, for instance. For someone younger an untreated hearing loss can lead to problems at work or in school, and also create challenges in social life.

Used to be Like You

Then one day a close friend told me how obvious my hearing problems were to everyone in the office and how frustrating it was for them trying to communicate. They then asked me quite nicely how frustrating was it for me? That was the day that changed my life. It was more than 2 and a half years ago and a few months later I walked into the office wearing hearing aids for the first time. Now I wear my hearing aids full time, they are BTEs with clear ear molds and I have short hair so I can't hide them. My life is so much better now in every aspect because I can hear far better than I did back then. May be you too should think about the frustrations that your hearing loss gives you, and those around you, your friends and family. Take it from someone who knows, hearing aids give you back quality of life.
