Filmmaker Seeks "Deaf-Speaking" Actresses

Tuesday July 12, 2005
Just received this e-mail from a filmmaker seeking a deaf actress. "Deaf speaking?" Now that's a new term to me..I've heard of English speaking, Spanish speaking, etc., but never Deaf speaking. Maybe our community needs to apply for recognition as a language? As we say in instant messaging..LOL.

Hi this is Amanda Taylor from Frogcatcher films. We are currently casting the lead role of our next feature film and are looking for an up and coming deaf speaking actress. Surprisingly, finding deaf actresses is a difficult thing to do when you are outside the loop. I was hoping that you might know about places to contact young, deaf actresses or talent agents that represent the deaf. Please feel free to give our information out to women who might be good candidates for the role. We are looking for deaf speaking actresses 20 to 30 years old.

Sincerely,

Amanda Taylor
