Statues with the I Love You Sign?

Wednesday October 25, 2006
An About visitor asked, "Could you tell me where I can find some type of statues with the "I love you" sign used by the deaf community?" I told the visitor that I knew of deaf themed statues such as the Gallaudet/Cogswell statue, but did not know of any with the I Love You handsign. Does anyone know of any such statues?

Yes, there are many places you can get statues using the ILY Sign. One of them is: “Adco” http://www.adcohearing.com

Many private deaf artists do this kind of work, also.

I think the visitor was referring to the larger kind of statues that are usally displayed in public spaces, not small figurines like on that ADCO site.

You know, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, with him sitting in the chair, seems like his hands are shaped like “A” and “L” for his initials. But the “L” looks more like “ILY” because his pinky seems to be somewhat raised. So that is my suggestion!

I’ve read that there is a statue of the Buddha doing the ILY sign… don’t know where..
