Was This Deaf Man Ripped Off by Car Dealership?

Saturday December 6, 2008
Have you ever heard of a special, jacked up interest rate being charged to deaf people when they try to buy a car? I sure haven't! Philly.com has a report about a deaf man who is battling a car dealership that he claims ripped him off. He claims he was not given the advertised trade-in value, plus he claims the dealership told him that under New Jersey disability law he had to be charged a high interest rate. (BTW, the deaf man is an accountant) Then he was sold a car, and the dealership repossessed the car barely two months later because the loan had not been approved (victim of credit crisis?). He wound up with his old car again. One last thing - he was trying to buy an American car.

I NEVER TRUST ANY CAR DEALERS! I once bought the Ford Mustang car during my college days. Guess what? The car dealer removed the radio and music box (I forget what to call it) from my car while I processed the car loan. I found out when I was going to take my new car home. I asked the car dealer where was the car radio and stereo. The car dealer replied “You are deaf and really don’t need it at all”.

I was very infuriated since the value of car will be dramatically dropped if there is no car radio or stereo inside the car as I re-sell it to someone else. I responded “What about my hearing car guest??”

In the end, I finally got the car dealer to give me $800 cash for not reporting the illegal behavior on the part of car dealer to the state authorities and state attorney. That already teached the car dealer for not messing up with me or any deaf person.

Deaf Pixie,

Thanks for your compliment. I must admit that the $800 cash deal as kind of too low.

$800 cash in the late 80s meant pretty lot to me as a college student myself.

I kinda took the delight to make the car dealer to squirm like a worm back in the year of 1987.

I was fully sure that this car dealer learned his costly lesson for defrauding any car buyers including deaf people.

I grew up seen many deaf stories about corrupted car dealers swiped off deaf car buyers. I did give the car dealer a fair shake until the car radio and stereo missed from my car.

I always make the corrupted people squirm and suffocate for what they done to me and other people.

That’s why many deaf people have a hard time to persuade me to get involved in their MLM enterprise or pyrmaid scheme.

I would not let my money down the toliet drain for all nothing.

The Deaf man should have hired an investigator to see if the dealership is trying to con other people. If that was the case, he would win in court because the dealership is bad business for everyone. I did not have a problem buying an Honda car.

Deaf Pixie,

Many African American women are most real victim of greedy car dealers since they are not really familar with cars.

People in general, ought to be more consumer-educated what to buy something.

I haven’t read the enclosed article of yours and will read it later. Okay?
